On Saturday 5th of January 2019 at 8pm, the ancient custom of wassailing took place in Tarring Village

The weather was crisp and dry – just perfect for this annual event. As in previous years, the Worthing Sompting Morris dancers splendidly provided the mainstay of the wassail torchlit parade along Tarring High Street. The residents of Tarring (including us), turned out in force to enjoy this very popular and spectacular event.
About Wassailing
This medieval ritual (especially popular in the cider producing regions of England), involves short bursts of noise and singing, to ensure a good cider apple harvest the following year.
In Tarring, the final part of the procession ends around the apple tree in the garden of The Vine Pub in Tarring High Street.
